Najiyah Threatt – A musical prodigy with a spiritual talent is an eight-time winner of the McDonald’s Gospelfest. Her talent was discovered by the legendary Ms. Nona Hendryx of La Belle, who signed Najiyah to record on the gospel Indie label Rhythm and Spirit at the age of 10. In 2005 “It’s Just Me” was released with rave reviews. That same year Najiyah was a featured in Jet Magazine singing for Patti LaBelle’s 60th Birthday. The project afforded her opportunities to perform on many stages in NYC such as Madison Square Garden, Town Hall, Westbury Music Fair, and Showtime at the Apollo “Future Stars of Tomorrow” in 1999 and in 2005. She has performed on Bobby Jones Gospel (BET) and The Gospel of Music with Jeff Majors (TV One). Past performances include the Abyssinian Baptist Church sponsored by WRKS’ KISS-FM “Luther Vandross Tribute,” NYC; Gospel For Teens with Vy Higginson and Cissy Houston; and T.D. Jakes’ Megafest, Atlanta, GA. In addition, she has auditioned for Broadway shows such as The Lion King, Hairspray, and The Color Purple. This is a short list of her many accomplishments. Most importantly, she uses her talent to the glory of God. Najiyah will be a featured contestant at this year’s McDonald’s Gospelfest Teen Soloist division on June 13th at the Prudential Center, in Newark, New Jersey.
